2. Information we collect

We collect only what FinBuddy needs to work for you:

• Account information — name, email address, phone number and authentication details you provide when you create an account.
• Financial information you enter — transactions, income, expenses, budgets, pools, tax inputs, investment holdings and financial goals that you choose to record in the app.
• Imported statements — if you upload a bank or card statement, we process it to extract transactions on your behalf.
• Device & usage data — device type, operating system, app version, crash logs and in-app interactions, used to keep the app stable and improve it.
• Support communications — messages, feedback and attachments you send us.

We do not require access to your bank login credentials, and FinBuddy does not move or transact money on your behalf.

3. How we use your information

• To provide, maintain and personalise FinBuddy's features.
• To generate insights, summaries and nudges that help you reach your goals.
• To secure your account and detect fraud or misuse.
• To respond to your support requests and feedback.
• To improve our products through aggregated, de-identified analytics.
• To comply with applicable laws and lawful requests.

We do not sell your personal or financial information, and we do not use your financial data for third-party advertising.

4. The lawful basis for processing

We process your information based on your consent, the performance of our agreement with you (providing the service), our legitimate interests in operating and improving FinBuddy, and our legal obligations. You may withdraw consent at any time, as described below.

5. How we share information

We share information only in limited circumstances:

• Service providers — trusted vendors (for cloud hosting, analytics, communications and similar) who process data on our behalf under confidentiality and security obligations.
• Within shared features — when you use Pools or shared budgets, relevant entries are visible to the members you invite.
• Legal & safety — where required by law, or to protect the rights, safety and security of our users and our service.
• Business transfers — if SaakarKaro is involved in a merger, acquisition or asset sale, with continued protection under this policy.

6. How we store and protect your data

We use industry-standard safeguards, including encryption in transit and at rest, access controls, and regular review of our security practices. No method of transmission or storage is perfectly secure, but we work continuously to protect your information.

7. Data retention

We keep your information for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide the service. When you delete your account, we delete or de-identify your personal data within a reasonable period, except where retention is required for legal, accounting or fraud-prevention purposes.

8. Your rights and choices

• Access & portability — request a copy of the data you have stored in FinBuddy.
• Correction — update inaccurate account information.
• Deletion — delete your data and your account from within the app or by contacting us.
• Withdraw consent — turn off optional data uses or withdraw consent where processing relies on it.

9. Children

FinBuddy is intended for users aged 18 and above. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a minor has provided us data, contact us and we will remove it.

10. International data transfers

Your information is primarily processed in India. Where data is processed by service providers in other jurisdictions, we take steps to ensure it remains protected in line with this policy and applicable law.

11. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. When we make material changes, we will notify you in the app or by email and update the “last updated” date above.
